"Silence doesn't work. It’s time to change how you’re dealing with sexual abuse trauma. To me Brave not Broken is about reframing perspectives when it comes to abuse trauma. It asks that survivors are not judged for our vulnerabilities or perceived weaknesses, but seen instead for the resilience and strength it takes to live life after abuse. Abuse survivors are not the sum of the worst things that have happened to us, and if the people around us can see that too, then healing is so much more likely.

For a long time I thought I was irreparably broken. Now I know I was wrong. I had to learn that I got to choose who I am and what I deserved. So I choose to see myself as brave not broken. 

 

Through my art, social movement and public speaking opportunities, I help others see that too."
